Kittelson & Associates, Inc.

Business Development Coordinator/Community Manager (2012-2013, 2005-2008)

Transportation Engineering and Planning is a highly technical industry, which is precisely why my skills were needed at KAI.

As Business Development Coordinator, I organized and executed an industry-leading transportation firm’s range of marketing efforts. When I started at KAI, marketing efforts were mostly limited to responding to Requests for Proposals. However, I worked closely with the Business Development team to broaden their reach — I designed and implemented the firm’s first social media strategy.

Another key component of my role was to transform our professionals’ engineering jargon into relatable messaging in order to win key public and private engineering contracts. My flair for words, ability to collaborate with technical staff, and keen attention to copy led to dozens of successful contracts. One of my biggest wins include securing the contract, then copyediting and designing layouts for the first edition of the Federal Highway Administration’s official Highway Safety Manual.
