Project & Team Management

Each class period was a team and included an array of individual projects. The English department was a dynamic cohort. The school itself was an organization with thousands of active stakeholders.

  • Connection: Every year, I learned over 150 names, individual personalities, and how to work with each.

  • Strategy: As a teacher leader for over a decade, I chaired the schoolwide Climate & Culture Committee, helped clarify our organization’s core values, and was an integral staff voice in various strategic planning efforts.

  • Problem-Solving: I’m an expert in solving conflict thanks to Restorative Practices training from Clark County Juvenile Court, and each year had plenty of opportunities to mediate.

  • Vision: I thought big picture - developing an entire year of lesson plans, for example - or coordinating minutia, like crafting project teams with complementary abilities and personalities.

  • Results: My former Principal and direct supervisor, Andy Meyer, nominated me last year for a statewide school leadership award (I won!).

    • He wrote that I am “a passionate educator who cares deeply for students, is hard working, demonstrates integrity, leads change, and is constantly supporting and elevating the voice of ALL students.
